WorthClip is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up, we collect basic account information through Clerk, including your email address. We do not store passwords directly - authentication is handled securely by Clerk.

YouTube Data

When you add YouTube channels to track (via search or URL), we access:

  • Channel information for channels you choose to track (names and IDs)
  • Video metadata from your tracked channels (titles, descriptions, durations, thumbnails)
  • Video transcripts (processed for summarization, then discarded)

Usage Data

We store your persona preferences (learning goals, topics of interest), video scores, viewing status (watched/dismissed), and channel tracking preferences.

API Usage Data

When you use the WorthClip API, we collect API key identifiers (hashed, never stored in plaintext), request timestamps, endpoint usage, and rate limit data. API keys are stored as SHA-256 hashes and the plaintext key is shown only once at creation.

2. YouTube Data API Usage

WorthClip uses the YouTube Data API to fetch publicly available video information from channels you choose to track. We do not access your YouTube account or subscriptions — you select channels manually by searching or pasting URLs.

  • We only fetch publicly available channel and video metadata
  • We do not use YouTube data for advertising purposes
  • We do not sell YouTube data to third parties
  • We do not access any private YouTube account information

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Service: Generate personalized video scores and summaries based on your learning goals
  • Personalization: Tailor AI recommendations to your specific interests and priorities
  • Service Improvement: Understand usage patterns to improve WorthClip
  • Communication: Send important service updates and respond to support requests

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:

  • Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate WorthClip (Clerk for auth, AI providers for analysis, Polar for payments)
  • OpenClaw: If you use the WorthClip OpenClaw skill, your API key is passed through the OpenClaw agent runtime to authenticate requests. We do not share your API key with OpenClaw directly.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights and safety

5. Data Processing

When we analyze videos for you:

  • Video transcripts are fetched, processed by AI, and immediately discarded - we do not store raw transcripts
  • AI-generated summaries and scores are stored to provide the service
  • Your persona information is used to personalize scores but is not shared with third parties

6. Data Retention

  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active
  • Video Scores: Retained to provide your personalized feed and history
  • Transcripts (NOT stored): Processed in memory and immediately discarded
  • After Deletion: When you delete your account, your data is removed from our systems

7. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access Your Data: Review your account information and preferences in Settings
  • Update Your Data: Modify your persona, preferences, and channel tracking settings
  • Delete Your Account: Request complete deletion of your account and data
  • Remove Channels: Untrack any YouTube channel at any time from your dashboard

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data. All data transmission uses HTTPS. Authentication is handled securely by Clerk. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

WorthClip is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
